Salary data is sourced from the Government of Ontario and provided “as is” without warranty. We make reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy but do not guarantee it. Always verify with official government sources.

You may use this site for personal, educational, and journalistic purposes. You may share links to any page.

The underlying salary records are a public disclosure the Government of Ontario is required to publish each year under the Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 — the licence data.ontario.ca names for every disclosure year in its open-data catalogue (1996–2020; the 2021–2025 files are published directly on ontario.ca under the same Act). Section 4(3) of the Act states there is no copyright in these records and that the information may be published by any member of the public — so you may download, use, and redistribute those records, including via this site’s own downloads and the per-employer-year CSV links (see Press for the URL pattern and citation guidance).

Automated bulk crawling or scraping of this site is limited to protect server capacity for other visitors — sunshinelist.fyi runs on a single shared server. This is a capacity constraint, not a licence restriction: the underlying government records carry no such limit from us.
